ski like a girl and lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge Day #22

lululemon's be ready for anything challenge
Day #22

Challenge #22: Hold downward dog for 5 minutes!  on Twitpic

Challenge #22: Hold downward dog for 5 minutes!

ski like a girl is going to do this.  I'll be the first to admit I lost focus of this challenge for a few days.  Okay, it was a whole week but I was busy watching the Olympics.  Maybe not the best excuse, it's just what happened.  So now I'm back on track and groovin' in my down dog.  This may be a bit tough on my shoulder but I'm gonna give it a try.

How long can you hold down dog? Click HERE for yoga journal's wonderful step by step guide to getting the most from your down dog.

ski like a girl & lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge Day #10

lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge

 today's daily challenge

Challenge #10: Are you the master of the stairs? Try taking ONLY stairs today!

I did this one!  Stair, stairs, and more stairs.  I was inspired by Apolo Ohno's, How they train video.  After my run and strength training today I did stairs. Lot's of stairs. Ran up and down, hopped up, ran down... Finished up the workout with a pilates class.

ski like a girl & lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge Day #9

lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge

today's daily challenge

Challenge #9: Get a little support from friends and build a human pyramid!

The little ski princess and I are heading over to cheer practice.  I think I'll leave the pyramids to the experts! Although I did do these in high school and college.  Earlier today the ski kitties, Breckenridge and Loveland,  piled on top of me for a bit but they are not human (contrary to popular belief) and it was hardly a pyramid.

p.s. This will be fun to try at the mountain this weekend.  A skier pyramid?  I'll bring my camera.  Wanna try?

ski like a girl & lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge Day #8

lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge

Day #8

See the world upside down.
Try a headstand or handstand!

Head over to Yoga Journal for step by step instructions for both handstand and headstand.

ski like a girl enjoys looking at life from a new perspective.  I should try this every day.  When the little ski princess was 2 or 3 and having a rough time a.k.a.- a major tantrum in the middle of the mall, grocery store...  I used to flip her upside down and instantly everything would be better.

How did it go for you?  Send a picture to skilkeagirl@ymail.com for a future post.  Or send your pic to lululemon.  Have fun!

ski like a girl & lululemon's Be Ready for Anything Challenge Day #5

lululemon be ready for anything challenge

Day #5

Jumpasana. Show us your best jumping photo!

In an effort to combine everything I love yoga, skiing, and the Olympics. I have chosen a very special picture for this challenge. I know we can't all jump like an Olympic aerialists but this jump is way better than anything I can do.   So I won't even bother to show you a pic of my two foot airs!  Hey, I am off the ground...

Let's call this  the Daffyasana. Clyde Getty, Argentina, Freestyle Aerialist, is keeping it Old School.  There are only 7 days left until the Opening Ceremony and Clyde doesn't know if he will be competing in Vancouver.  For more on his story go to his blog and leave him a message.   Tell him ski like a girl sent you.

If you want to join in on the be ready for anything daily challenge check back here or head straight to the source at lululemon.

I will post my own jumpasana pictures once I get back on the snow.   If you want to send your jumpasana pictures to me for a future post send them to: skilikeagirl@ymail.com especially if they are the on snow variety.    Asana is one of the eight limbs of yoga.  The postures and poses of yoga.  You can add asana to anything.  Snowasana!  Skiasana!

p.s.  My day 4 challenge results, hold plank for 3 minutes, were a success.  The last 30 seconds were tough!  I didn't do the one foot up version.  I know I'm a wimp. (I'm not mentioning the shoulder.)  How did it go for you?
